Bliss

The final chapter of She Came And She Touched Me was released a few days ago. Tonight, I spent a good 2 hours relishing its every word and imagery.

And excuse me if you will but it’s raining on my face. Soon enough, my tears will fill up the Mississippi River. I just can’t. My heart can’t.

Everything was done rightfully so. This was the perfect ending that they all needed. It was both thrilling and painful while reading it all unfold. Yet the moment arrives when the last scroll, last block of prose, and the last thought concludes it all. Everything was beautiful and everything hurts.

I’m proud to admit that this masterpiece of a fanfic has truly blurred with my perception of KOL’s reality. It’s going to be impossible to wean myself off the fictional Followills. Got a class tomorrow but those never ending brilliant one-liners may well enough keep me awake all night long.

Saw Midnight In Paris, it’s absolutely enchanting. The most delightful of Woody Allen’s films, it will make you sentimental for any aspect of it, whether or not you’re a fan of Paris in the 1920s. I was amazed that Allen was able to take giants like Hemingway, Fitzgerald and Stein, and present them exactly as we all believe they acted, make them seem familiar, and yet believable as fictionalized characters. The conversation with the Surrealists is spectacular, and Corey Stoll (isn’t he on Law & Order LA?) is outsanding as Hemingway. Repeated “brave and pure and true” over and over in my head today. I loved everything about this very funny movie.

No, I don’t mean the 60s Irish folk band; nor have the characters created by my literary idol suddenly come alive and crossed the Atlantic pond to do a jingle in my neighborhood. Though both would have been fullfilling/heart-attack inducing, I’m talking about a more current phenomenon—something that has been sweeping the present airwaves. I’m talking about The Script playing their first ever Canadian show last night in my city. After over two months of waiting, the last day of May finally arrived and it happened: I saw The Script live in Toronto with my friends (MY FRIENDS OMG)!

The thing is, except for The Boyfriend, I rarely go to concerts or live shows with my friends since we almost always have differing music tastes. And usually I’m the odd(est) one out. But last night was definitely something. It was The Script for fuck’s sake. This time we were all excited and ready.

Truthfully, the night was far from perfect—what with an uncharged/poorly set new camera, trés humide, and very last minute ticket sprees because one of my friends decided to bring her boyfriend and made MY boyfriend buy sidewalk tickets lol. All that made it terribly unforgettable but once the music started playing, the night miraculously lit up and everything suddenly felt better. Corny yet true story. Triple date with the hot Irish band is what ensued; Kool Haus—not a fave venue—was packed like sardines yet we were all rightfully tipsy/happy and in triumphant sing-song mode.

SafetySuit opened. If you would’ve told me some two years ago that I would see the staple band behind The Hill’s playlist, I would’ve thought you were delusional. Yet it happened. When they played Something I Said and I unconsciously still knew each and every word, I literally just wanted to throw my camera in the air. I could not for the love of God use it; that moment couldn’t possibly be recreated whatsoever. And the night was only beginning.

Then The Script happened. I’m not going to tell you how every song was so moving; how everyone simultaneously melted and cried during The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, Nothing, and Science and Faith; how the band was hilarious and made a million Irish-Canadian jokes; or how Danny The Angel kept twirling around on stage while singing with such might. No, I won’t even tell you how unexpectedly rowdy the crowd was, nor will I tell you how flabbergasted the band was at Toronto’s warm welcome. I’ll just end this by saying that only four songs in their setlist, they played We Cry and I think I already lost it. I was the happiest girl right then and there. They finished with For The First Time (everything was beautiful and nothing hurt) and Breakeven.

Afterwards, we walked what felt like 50 blocks back to Union station, stopped by McDonald’s and had a nice cab ride home while Jessica and I planned on maybe repeating this pop/rock music filled night. Maroon 5 on my birthday, perhaps? Why not?!

Epic night was epic.
