What I’ve learned from last night’s amazing show:

Knocked Up - Lykke Li (Kings of Leon cover)
Pyro | Slane Castle, Ireland (28 May 11) | good footage!
On Call | Slane Castle, Ireland (28 May 11) | really close footage!
Use Somebody | Kings of Leon | Slane Castle, Ireland (28 May 2011)
This is beautiful. Can we just please forget the stigma of Use Somebody (even Sex on Fire), for atleast one second, and remember how beautiful of a song it is? I mean just look at how KOL’s music makes the Irish feel. Even from far away, their invigorating energy is undeniably felt; with simple lighting the music shines and… just look at that crowd!
I’m supposed to be studying but, just wow, being bombarded with all these Slane Castle updates and videos is too overwhelming. Excuse me, I’m getting all sorts of emotional.
Apparently, the band itself was stunned at the warmth of the reception: 80 000 Irish fans came out to the dream Slane Castle gig that kicked off their European summer 2011 tour. 80 000 and they’re all singing their hearts out to every song. KOL is already calling it one of the most memorable moments of their career and it’s understandable. They’ve been through a winding road for the past 2-3 years, under much criticism to say the least. And this concert probably reminded them that they’re still doing something right. It’s good to see people, especially their European fanbase, still showing their unrelenting support for this band and their love for their music.
And from what I can gather, neither the grey skies, the drizzles, nor the untimely and sad death of their Uncle Cleo Followill hindered The Kings from putting on a great show. Caleb dedicated an emotional solo performance of The Runner for their Uncle Cleo. They also brought the mother of all setlists (their longest one!) and as usual—and evident in this clip—played their simple rock n roll with unwavering intensity.
